In process of moving site…
New site is here
Lisa, Katie, and I just got back from Hualalai On Kona in Hawaii to celebrate Lisa’s 30th and our 7th anninversary. We had a terric time. Katie had a bunch of firsts: swimming, golf, tennis and of course fish tacos.
Lisa and I went to Hualalai almost 3 years ago:

Congrats Miya, Lisa and Sean.

“GlamMa” & Grandpa on their MacBook iChatting with us.
Spent this past weekend down at Amelia Island in Florida for Courtney & Rich’s wedding. Special thanks to Katie for coming 2 weeks early so I could go!
It was great to see the whole crew as this is basically the last one* for us. Life is moving…4 of us have kids now!
Fun times included:
Got to spend some special time with Audra, Amin, & Ava on the plane flight. Damn she is cute
*well maybe vitolo?
Wow this is exciting! We welcomed Katie into the world at 8:22 last night. She is so beautiful. Mom was simply amazing!
What a great baby story. Lisa went to the Madonna concert on Wednesday with Jamie & Krista and got home around 1am yesterday (we made sure it was OK from the Doc). Jamie was in SF for Sugar Publishing training and Lisa kept saying what if…
At around 3am she woke with “I have to go to the bathroom” pain, blaming the damn hot dog she had at the concert, this continued till 8am. Lisa said something was different and I called the doctor and was instructed to come in at 10:45am. Brian, Krista, and Rebecca joined Jamie at our house for Sugar Publishing Training (we move in to our new office space in July).
So with a house full of people, we left for the doctor. The “I have to go to the bathroom” pain was quickly changed to the correct terminology, “contraction” by the doctor. At that point Lisa was 1.5 cm dilated and we were sent home waiting for 511–having contractions 5 minutes part, lasting 1 minute for 1 hour.
Back at home training was going well while Lisa was upstairs beginning her labor. At 3:30 it was GO TIME. We hopped in the car at 4 and the rest went so fast:
Kate Maurice Sugar
6 lbs 7oz, 18″
Katie & Lisa are resting and doing very well! We are so very happy.
POPSUGAR recieved some great press today! We are on the cover of SF Chronicle’s Style section. Very exciting for our startup, Sugar Publishing. Looking forward to getting the framed version and hanging in our new office.

Jack looks a bit pissed off.

Purdy eyes.
Wednesday was my last day at 2Wire. I had some great times, galavanting around the globe selling the good old SugarCube turned MediaPortal turned Homezone. I had the opportunity to present our vision to Ed Whitacre, Randall Stephenson, Duane Ackerman, Terry Semel, Jerry Yang, Rob Glaser, Charlie Giancarlo, Charlie Ergen, Tom Rogers, Carlos Slim, Michael Sabia, Pierre Danon, Dick Notebaert, and many more…
I traveled 463,979 miles, here’s the breakdown:
Needless to say, I am very happy to stop all that traveling. Here’s the mass email that I sent around:
Dear All,
After 5 years of navigating the waters of DVR, IPTV, VOD, DRM, MPEG-4, AT&T, EchoStar, Yahoo, Comcast, DirecTV, Movielink, Akimbo, Sling, Tivo, and all other buzz-word compliant words, I have decided to leave 2Wire and the entire video space. I had the pleasure of founding Sugar Media, selling it to 2Wire, and then selling our solution around the world. I look forward to the launch of AT&T’s Homezone this summer. My last day at 2Wire is May 10th.
Lisa and I are looking forward to the arrival of our baby girl, due June 14th. As always check out http://lisaandbrian.com for friend & family updates.
I am also very excited about my new venture, Sugar Publishing. Looking forward to boot-strapping this new media company into something great! For updates on the new company, visit http://sugarpublishing.com.
Thanks,
Brian
Well here’s to the future! Woohoo.
UPDATE: Some of us got together down in Texas for some golf & BBQ. Thanks Ed & Beth for hosting…see the photos.
Well, Lisa and I are finally knocking things off “the list". My parents came in for the weekend so my dad could paint the baby room. Lisa picked out an extremely difficult striped pattern for us to paint. But no problem…after a couple of re-tapes we were off and painting. Damn, it came out better then expected! Thanks Mom & Dad!
Here are some of the latest pics of our wonderful visit with Jon and Rachel and then our big move into our new home. Finally for those who have been asking - enjoy the pics of my big growing belly.

Lisa and I just closed on our new home. We move in next month. Need to build garage!
From Aasim:
Yeah baby!!!
Today, February 21st at 0351 Shabnam gave birth to Shaya Sameen Kazmi by C-section. She weighed in at a solid 7 lbs 3 oz, is 19.5 inches long and seems very healthy. Mom and baby are both doing great. Just wanted to share our moment with you guys.
Wish us luck and see you clowns soon.
My old college roommate, Span and his wife Susan, had a baby boy!
Big news! Lisa and I are having a baby girl. She is due 6/14.
Baby was a bit stubborn and kept her legs crossed during most of the exam. Doctor was literally pushing up and down on Lisa’s belly. After some creative maneuvering, we all realized it was a girl! Lisa is feeling great and doesn’t really look pregnant yet.
Damn, I’m excited. See baby sugar’s first photos.
Wow, what a crazy 6 weeks:
I need a vacation!
“It is your destiny” – I work for AT&T now like my dad did for 25 years, well kind of…
We are taking strategic investments from Alcatel, AT&T, and Telmex.

Laci Samantha Robbins joined us at 7:02 P.M. on November 6, 2005. Mom, baby and all are doing very well. She is beautiful. We’ll have photos soon!!! Love you all!!!! Yipeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!

Last night I was lucky enough to go see U2 in Oakland and as always, they put on one hell of a show. A very special thanks to the fabulous Chris for making it happen. XOXOXO
I felt like I have now seen what the Joshua Tree concert would have been since they played more oldies but goodies than recent hits. Of course on the way home all we talked about was how they could have played for a week straight and we still would not have heard all their fabulous songs. Thanks to our concert buddies, Jason and Grace for documenting the evening. (they were are Coldplay concert buddies as well)
You can see all of the pics at Grace and Jason but I have included a few highlights from the evening. You can also listen to a clip here and here but be patient - they take a sec to load.
Went back east to surprise Mom for her “special” birthday. The first big surprise were her kiddies coming home and jumping out from behind the bar on Friday night. Saturday included some shopping at Neiman’s - gifts for everyone!!! We continued to surprise mom with a Ladies High Tea at the Mandarin Oriental with her wonderful dear friends who teased Mom about her age. Finally we concluded the evening with a fabulous dinner at Charlie Palmer. Check out the pics from the roof.
Danny, Rebecca, and Chris welcomed Henry Mitchell into the world last night at 9pm. Mom is doing great!
Suzanne & Devon had a baby boy today! Jordan Harrison, stay tuned for photos.
Listen to the voice mail Devon left for me.
From Amin:
hello all,
Audra and I wanted you all to know that yesterday at 11:00 a.m., after 15 hours of labor and a cesarian section, we had ourselves a beautiful baby girl, Ava Emily Aguero.
she weighed 7 lb 2 ounces and was 21″ long, she’s got lots of jet black hair and eyes yet to be determined….and maybe because i’m the father and completely blinded by love, i think she’s perfect.
both she and Audra are doing fine and will be in the hospital til Sat.
i hope to send more pics later…and those of you in L.A. i hope you can come see her soon.
we love you all and wanted you all to know…there’s a new member of the family.
A, A, & A
Lisa and I went to DC to celebrate her birthday and Courtney & Rich’s engagement party. I flew in Thursday night so Rich and I could play a round on Friday. I had my best round ever We didn’t play due to rain.
Friday night Lisa’s parents treated Jamie, Jamie & Scott, and us to The Palm. Lisa loves the Apple iPod Nano I got her, now she can have photos of Lucy & Jack with her at all times.
Saturday night Jamie & Scott and Heidi & Jack threw a fantastic engagement party for Courtney & Rich. Damn thos Red Bull & Vodkas! It was great to see Aasim who was up from Kentucky.
See the engagement party photos.
See Lisa with Matt Damon.

Team PMS (Pollacks, Moatzes, and Sugars), you remember them from such lisaandbrian.com photos as Memorial Day Weekend, went camping at Yosemite.
Krista announces:
Oh right, and Brian also gets the “Best Campfire Ever” award.
Moatz zings Todd with:
Todd gets biggest lightweight award. Drunk w/n 10 mins of putting up his tent after 1.5 beers (Coors Light too…)
Todd responds:
Thank god Moatz remembered to bring Axe body spray. I and the other campground members beyond site 527 would like to extend their sincere appreciation for the Moatz clinic on “Showering w/ a faucet". Aaron committed at least 30 minutes every morning to demonstrating his prowess for woodsman hygiene.
In addition, while loud screams could be heard throughout the night to fend off “BEARS"…Aaron’s talent for snoring kept Ellie, Brian, Lisa and I completely out of harms way.
Moatz fires back:
Needless to say, good times had by all.
Even jack and lucy.
And the threesome next to us
And the guy who tried to mock sugar’s fire
And the fat kid in the fast group of marines
And the guys a site behind us who snoared the night away
Any my alarm clock for going off at 4:!5am
And Pollak who had a 6 hour red eye
And the woman at taco bell who convinced us to over order
And jack who was fed a hot link by Pollak
Check out the photos.
I landed at JFK at 3:30 and called Vitolo for my standard no warning “hey wanna do dinner.” He said sure and told me to make reservations at Il Giglio. We met at the restaurant and enjoyed a fantastic meal. Lisa landed and we met her back at the Ritz Carlton in Battery Park. After a drink there, we went up to The Park to meet up with Jamie, Dylan, et al. 8:15 tee time the next day was tough but well worth it. Played with Joe Chang and shot a 105!
Friday night rehearsal dinner was at Battery Gardens. Had a slight technical glitch with my slideshow for Jamie & Dylan but all worked out in the end.
While Lisa was getting purdy with the ladies, Amin, Scott, and I walked around SoHo in the late afternoon Saturday. Amin bought some cool movie prints at Posterati. We then ate some mexican sandwiches, yum. After relaxing at the Hotel, we got ready and met for a pre-wedding drink up at the bar. Vitolo stopped by as well.
Wedding start at 8:00 8:45 at Tribeca Rooftop, and everything was beautiful. Post-party in Jamie & Dylan’s suite where the cristal was flowing!
Media from the big event:

Damn, where’s our invite to come up and visit??

Lisa and I have been planning on going for weeks decided at 3:00 the day of the concert to see Coldplay. Lisa and I went with Jeff Jason and Grace.
Jason writes:
Yesterday, on the way to work, Anthony and I were listening to people grub for Coldplay tickets. I’ve been so busy, that I didn’t even know they were playing last night. I was already bummed about missing Dave Matthews Band and Black Eyed Peas last weekend (I’ve had a big crush on Fergie for the past couple of years - coincidentally, she has the same birthday as us). Anyway, I went out for lunch and was thinking about Coldplay so I had them cranking on the iPod in the car. Around 4pm, Brian comes over and asks if Grace and I want to see Coldplay that evening - he’s on the phone with Lisa and needs an answer right then. I get Grace on the horn and in about 45 seconds it’s decided. Good decision because I did laundry during the week, so we didn’t have anything to do on our typical Friday night. We had to work out some logistics with our carpools and ended up sending Arthur and Anthony home in Sugar’s 996 because I wouldn’t even consider letting Arthur take my car to the city. The drivers door lock on my poor Audi has not worked since the last time I let Arthur drive it home - he denies any wrongdoing. In any case, can you imagine the punitive damages of me having to unlock and lock the car from the passenger side, every single time i get into and out of the car?
Though a propensity for gossip typically motivates gossip bloggers, many are learning to cash in on their hobby. That’s what Lisa Sugar, 28, wants to do with her new blog, popsugar, which has grown from 200 to 13,000 unique visitors a week since it appeared in March, according to the site. The self-described “media junkie” and Maryland native spends at least 40 hours a week researching and writing the blog on top of her full-time job as a media planner in San Francisco.
“It’s pretty amazing what’s important to people,” she said with a chuckle. “Anything celebrity. That’s what everyone wants, so it makes sense that it’s translating into the online world as well.”
As her site grows, Sugar hopes to find enough advertisers to make it her only source of income. That way she can spend all her time feeding her “obsession.”
Cyndi & Joe had an intimate gathering of friends and family to celebrate their wedding at the Dolce Hayes Mansion in San Jose, California. It was great to see my family and all my younger cousins.
Thank God he was alright, but Joe’s buddy fainted during the ceremony! Luckily, we had a doctor in the house.
The dancing was out of control:
View the full wedding album.
Just heard voice mail from Inez, will get details soon.
Email from Rachel:
Hello from terrorist-attacked London!
Jonathan and I were so lazy today that we did not even wake up until after all the explosions had happened. So, we just walked around Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park rather than taking the underground to all the big tourist spots today as we had previously planned. Just wanted to say hi in case anyone was watching the news and thinking, when did they say they were going to be in London again?
People are sort of depressed and panicy, and there are about 50 people in my hotel reception area right now who I think are commuters trying to stay the night because there is no way for them to get home without the underground running.
Well, I hope things stateside are better than they are here…
Take care,
RachelP.S. I had to reactivate my old Yahoo account because I can’t checkExcite from the hotel e-mail kiosks.
Crazy.

Early Late Sunday morning we headed up to New Jersey to hang out at the shore stay at my parents before visiting my Grandma, Aunt, Uncle, and 1 year-old 1st cousin Mikayla. It’s nice wierd that Mikayla and I are so close in age 30 years apart.
My mom cooked up a feast! (Should have told Mom that I am allergic to cheese now…) We then caught he 6:50 show of War of the Worlds.(6, what’s up with the “and then we woke up and everything was fine” ending?) Monday morning we stopped in NYC to have brunch with Inez and Alan at the Ritz.
Mikayla is so cute and such a great baby! She loves music and we introduced her to the Shuffle. We had our first of two BBQs in the late afternoon, then went to my Uncle’s restaurant E.B. Elliot’s on the Nautical Mile and had a few drinks. We returned to the house and BBQ’ed again…2 BBQs on July 4th is a must! It was great to see everyone before heading back to SF earlier today. See the photos of Mikayla.
Lisa and I headed back east to support Live 8 and watch Bon Jovi rock Leslie and Alex’s get married in downtown Philadelphia beautiful Philadelphia suburn of Radnor. The rehearsal dinner Friday night was at Citron and included unappropriate funny speeches from friends and family.
Parting continued back at the Radnor Hotel where we had engaging conversations the guys regressed to college pranks. Moatz and Silverman each received a wake up call at 5:15am, sorry ladies.
Lisa, Abby, Jeremy, and I played 18 holes* on Saturday afternoon before the big event. I shot a 54 and Lisa a 58, our best round ever! Those lessons are really paying off. Post game DQ was a great treat.
The fabulous weddding was held Saturday night at the Radnor Country Club. The weather was amazing for the outside ceremony. Leslie looked beautiful! The band rocked and all the guests had a blast dancing the night away. See the photos.
UPDATE: Lauren, Aaron, and Abby dancing up a storm…watch the video.

Lisa and I drove down to Carmel this weekend for Tabetha & Brian’s wedding weekend. We arrived at Quail Lodge in the early late afernoon and got a nice sunny shady room, overlooking the 14th hole with just the sounds of nature the highway. After one three round-trips to the front desk the key finally opened the door. Once opened we were excited with the huge king bed two full beds.
After we unpacked we got some drinks and chilled by the pool Lisa worked out and I hit the driving range. We then grabbed dinner nachos at the world famous “The Covey” Baja Cantina, overlooking the ducks on Mallard Lake at the bar.
We headed over to the rehearsel dinner at Wills Fargo Dining House & Saloon. After pigs in the blanket & chicken fingers shrimp cocktail & white pizza a DJ began spinning Paul Thorn played live. (This guy was amazing, I highly recommend his music, website)
We slept late got up early and ordered room service ate at the local breakfast place at the counter. Tee time was at 10:44 but we got there early to check in and hit the range. It’s great when we get to go out alone paired with a couple as bad as us each with a single digit handicap.
I crushed missed my opening drive and they were extremely impressed disappointed with our skills. Our lessons are really paying off We need many more lessons. Lisa and I broke 100, although we only played 14 holes.
The wedding was amazing, Martha Stewart would be impressed, amazing. Tabetha and Brian are building a gorgeous house on their 200+ acres in Carmel Valley. They got married in their still under-construction home. We then had a 7 course meal with the perfect wine pairings in a tent by this old barn on their property. The night closed with Circle Link playing live at a cozy bonfire.
On Friday night at a black tie event in San Francisco, Brian Hinman was named Ernst & Young’s Northern California Entrepreneur of the Year in the Communications & Networking category.
In his acceptance speech, Brian expressed gratitude and recognition for all of the hard work, dedication and commitment of the 2Wire team, which has made this company such a successful enterprise.
This is a very prestigious honor not only for Brian but for all of 2Wire, as the selection process placed heavy emphasis on 2Wire’s current operation and future prospects. See the photos.
Team PMS (Pollacks, Moatzes, and Sugars) rented a spectacular house in beautiful Forrestville, on sort of near to the Russian River. Friday night was a low key BBQ with everyone arriving that night.
Saturday morning Todd, Aaron, and I drove to the Jack Nicklaus designed Northwood Golf Club just down the street in majestic Monte Rio. We all had our best games ever played OK.
After golf, we met the girls at the local mexican restaurant, Taqueria La Tapatia, in Guerneville. Post tacos, burritos, etc we walked around town and Todd and Aaron spent some time almost an hour talking with a real estate agent. The Pollacks and Moatzes went house hunting while Lisa and I went back to the house to get Jack & Lucy. We all met up at the final house on their list. This house was right on Russian River Austin Creek and was ready to move in needs a lot of work. It will be loads of fun to have a small vacation home in Wine Country, Tahoe, or Santa Cruz…stay tuned.
Dinner at Dry Creek Kitchen in Healdsburg was perfect.
Wine tasting the next day at the usual suspects: Gary Farrell, Rochioli, Porter Creek, and Hop Kiln. Ellie and Todd went back to San Francisco after lunch and we continued on. Silver Oak, which I was looking forward to, was our last stop and let me tell you it was awesome closed.
It was time for some R&R at Lake Sonoma. Jack played and played in the water and then took a nap rolled in a bunch of hitchhikers - sometimes called Natures Velco. Lucy enjoyed the sun and water and then also took a nap had an allergic reaction to the hitchhikers.
Sunday night dinner back at the house was BBQ steak fajitas and Rochioli wine, YUM! Krista and Lisa get dishwasher working, chest bumps for all.
Great weekend - check out the photos.
Alex, Aaron, and I went out early on Staurday to play a round of 18. Aaron suggested Monarch Bay Golf Club which turned out to be great. Scott, professional pool player, mad us four.
New clubs that Lisa got me for my borthday worked out great. Thanks, baby!
Came into this morning to find my entire office wrapped! Great birthday present.
Hmmm, I wondered who did this…Gloria, Mia, Anthony, Agent P…hmmm. Check out the photos of my wrapped office.
Lisa threw me a low key BBQ on the back deck. Good times, good wine. The usual SF suspects minus the Glesers.
In the afternoon, Tood, Aaron, Jason, and I played 9 holes over at Harding Park. Getting better, time for lessons…
Do you love celebrity gossip and are a slave to pop culture? Or, um, maybe you have “a friend” that falls under this category…? (Yeah right. C’mon - no shame.)
Anyway, I am writing to share an awesome dish site: popsugar.com. It’s brand new. Couldn’t keep this good thing all to myself. Besides, you know you want to procrastinate.
and then there was one…. Todd Vitolo (only one left), Amin Aguero, John Pollack, Scott Hoffman, Me, Devon Klein, and Rich Dyer at our wedding September 25, 1999.
Congrats to Courtney & Rich who got engaged this past weekend in St. Martin’s. Rich “dropped the bomb” after dinner by the pool. They decided to keep it their little secret until they returned to DC.
Whew! After Grace & Jason’s wedding, Lisa and I drove all the way back from Dana Point. 8 hours top down on route 5. The next day I hopped on a plane from San Francisco to London to Zurich and then drove to Berne, Switzerland for a couple of meetings.
Then, on to Paris where Lisa met me for the weekend. Paris in April is great. Lisa’s parents met us on Sunday and we strolled around the city. Monday, Lisa and I went on to London. Lisa shopped and I had a bunch of meetings. Lisa left early to come home and see Abby, who was in town before a trip down to Hawaii.
I am finally home and way jet lagged. Check out the photos from our travels.
Lisa and I decided to drive to Grace & Jason’s wedding in Dana Point, CA, a mere 400 miles. On the way down, we broke up the trip nicely. BTW, there are 11 In-N-Outs on the 101 from SF to LA and 6 on the 5.
Thursday, Lisa drove from San Francisco and picked me up at 2Wire in San Jose and we headed down the 101 to Santa Barbara. Arrived at the Oceana beach hotel just in time for dinner. We gave my cousin, AJ, a call who is a sophpmore at UCSB. Damn, that looks like a fun school. AJ, Lisa, and I grabbed dinner at Rocks on State. Good to catch up with AJ, who I haven’t seen in 5 years.
Friday morning we got up early and headed down to LA. We caught up Mario who moved down last week. He has a great place right in Santa Monica. Why didn’t he move there in the first place? After lunch at Houston’s, we hung out at his place for a hour or so.
Then on to Audra and Amin’s in Manhattan beach. They just finished construction on their brand new house. It’s gorgeous, well done guys. We all headed to Koi for dinner, Lisa loves that place. We woke up the next morning and had brunch at Martha’s, yum.
Then off to the OC. We arrived at the St. Regis in Dana Point just in time for shrimp tacos at the pool. We caught up with Rachel & Jon and Rebecca & Chris at the pool. Wedding started promptly at 5:30. This was a gorgeous affair, period. Grace was one of the most beautiful brides Lisa and I have seen.
Lisa and I got on the road at 10:15 and I am writing this 8 hours later, whew that was a long drive. I have to pack as I am off to Zurich, Paris, and London tomorrow.
Don’t forget to check out graceandjason.com.
See all the photos from the weekend.
Last night we celebrated Jaime & Dylan’s engagement at Sarah & Wes’ posh Riverside NYC apartment. The usual suspects partied and danced to DJ Sarah. Who actually won the Jaime - Dylan dance off?
Thanks to Sarah & Wes and Ali & Richard for throwing a great party…and onge for being well behaved.

Baby Jack Lucky Goldstein is 8 lbs 1 oz, strong as oxen, momma doing well……at California Pacific Medical Center at 3700 California in San Francisco.
We had a gorgeous cloudly and cold day out sailing on the bay. It was still loads of fun. Krista & Aaron, Leslie & Alex, Alex’s friend Todd, Heidi & Arthur, and Lisa & I all enjoyed Arthur’s new boat.
Took some flack for the music, but recovered nicely. Apparently, Marley is better than Jay-Z when sailing…go figure. See the photos.
Whatcha going to do? Brian and Tabetha caught some skateborders trespassing on their Carmel Valley property. These photos are priceless.
Latest email from Brian:
Brian,
There is a happy ending to the Carmel Valley story.
The pool is finally filled with water, and the bad boys
pled guilty in court last week. They got three years
of probation, ten days in jail, and a $300 fine each.
Bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do, whatcha gonna do
when they come for you?
Brian
Lisa and I headed up to Sam’s for JOECHANG’s Surprise 30th Birthday party. It was 73 degrees and beautiful out. Finally met Joe’s sister Karen, after 10 years.
After that, Arthur, BJ, and I took Arthur’s J130 out for a sail in the bay. It doesn’t get much better than 70+ degrees on a sailboat out on the bay. See the photos.

Jack has a cut on his paw that he won’t stop licking.
